No more Broken Gears!
Our nose support is made of 6061 billet aluminum, thickest for support, smallest in diameter for close fits in bell housing. The standard block end is drilled for 4 solenoid locations, others are available. The gear is made of 9310 aircraft quality steel billet, center ground and heat treated. Available for standard Chevy, left handed Chevy with or without oil filter, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Ford (standard or manual), and pro stock small flywheel. We will customize for your application. We have made noses for dynos, monster trucks, 800 inch pro stocks, and extra long nose applications with a thick mid plate. The starter itself is a 2.2 kw Hitachi OEM starter.

This kit contains everything you need to convert your starter to a BULITPRUF 1 starter. All you need is a Hitachi style Racing starter. The kit contains a nose, a gear, bolts, shims and instruction sheet. You can install it yourself, have a local starter rebuilder do it or send your starter to us. We will install the nose kit and check your starter for free. We will also repair or rebuild your starter at the same time if you like. Standard fees for repairs and rebuilding will apply. All standard configurations are available. Same as the complete starter above.

Bulitpruf 2
We believe our BULITPRUF 1 is the ultimate in starters. However, in cars with clutch cans, there is often no room for the support nose. For those cars, we utilize a clutch which uses a smooth bearing surface to support the gear. Now the radial end play is held to approximately .006, not .050. In order to further help stop gear deflection, the shaft of the gear is also thicker where it is needed, just behind the pinion gear. this billet gear is the same 9310VM aircraft quality steel as all our gears. Compare the standard gear [top] with the BULITPRUF 2 gear [bottom]. The starter assembly is an Hitachi OEM unit. Not an aftermarket version. We also sell a kit to convert your starter to a BULITPRUF 2 starter. It comes with its own clutch ready to install.

Bulitpruf Starter Smart Switch
The major cause of starter clutch problems comes the fact that the driver cannot release the starter button fast enough. With FAE'S SMART SWITCH the starter is disengaged electronically at an engine rpm selected by you, time after time. No engagement while the engine is running either.

Bulitpruf Return Spring
Tired of replacing the pinion return spring?
Through extensive research FAE has determined the cause for the spring problem. First, the primary problem is not heat buildup in the spring. The heat is the result of the problem. The cause is centrifugal force acting on the spring.
In that brief moment when the engine is running and the driver has not released the starter button, the pinion gear is being driven by the engine at approximately 18 to 1 overdrive. At 2000 rpm, the pinion gear is turning about 36,000 rpm, hence the centrifugal force. At this speed the spring has expanded and is now rubbing the aluminum housing surrounding it. This is where the heat comes from, destroying the spring.
Spring steel holds its temper to about 300 degrees. The BULITPRUF spring is made of Inconel X material good to 1000 degrees. It's also stronger so the pinion gear stays put under acceleration.
